Behind the Scenes at Ozona Community Church

According to the dictionary, community means, “an interacting population of various kinds of individuals in a common location.” For us, that common location is the little area of Ozona, tucked next to Palm Harbor, along the shore line of Pinellas County.

For years, First Baptist Church of Ozona quietly sat in the heart of Ozona. So quietly, in fact, that many people within Ozona had no idea we were even here.  However, with a new vision and commitment to reaching our community, the church changed its name and began seeking ways to bring the church to the people of Ozona. Our new name is our mission statement.  We want to be (In) Ozona (for the) Community (as the) Church.

The Denny Project

One way that we’re reaching out to our surrounding community? The Denny Project. Named after former resident and church member, Denny Herrick, Ozona Community Church began a volunteer corps that is making a difference in our town. The first and third Saturday of each month, you’ll find our Denny Project team hard at work, collaborating with homeowners and businesses to improve, revitalize or remodel parts of Ozona.

Today, our team of volunteers has tackled projects big and small within the Ozona community, making an impact in the lives of everyone involved. We’ve painted houses, cleared lots, done yardwork…and the list goes on.  The Denny Project assistance is offered to anyone in Ozona who needs manpower. There are no strings attached, no charges, no requirements. If you have a project and want some help, we’ll be there.

Ozona Community Church. Bringing the church to you.
